Great ending to this series!

The End is Here。And what an end it was。Truth be told, at the end of Two Lost Mountains, I was hoping that in the finale Jack West Jr。 would be killed。 However, kudos, to the author, for not doing that and ending the series on a fantastic note。 Must read till the last page (including the interview, because there is a hidden clue on probably the next movie script there!!)

Not as good as some of the earlier ones, better then the others。 Lots of language。

I have read over a dozen books by Matthew Reilly, this being the seventh in this series alone。 Reilly never fails to provide wild, over-the-top, action, great heroes and fantastic villains。 This being the finale of many years of setup, it is all bigger, bolder and badder。 Why beat around the bush? People die, most of the good ones come back, the bad ones don't。 The world is almost ended, but saved in the last moment by the greatest of all heroes。 And they all lived happily ever after。 Most excel I have read over a dozen books by Matthew Reilly, this being the seventh in this series alone。 Reilly never fails to provide wild, over-the-top, action, great heroes and fantastic villains。 This being the finale of many years of setup, it is all bigger, bolder and badder。 Why beat around the bush? A very good end to the Jack West Jr。 series。 The stakes are higher and the tests are more epic。 The over the top action, which is written so descriptively, is intense with danger at every turn。 But reading the last 2 books together, and seeing what happens to characters throughout, lessened the impact of the ending。 Without spoiling it, I had no doubt how it would end。 I still recommend the series highly, with great characters and situations。

A fantastic end to an amazing series。 Like all of Matthew Reilly's books, there was tension on every page, lots of action and suspense, twists and turns。 I also enjoyed the characters, you can get quite invested in them after 7 books。 Overall, this was one of my favourite Matthew Reilly novels。 A fantastic end to an amazing series。 Like all of Matthew Reilly's books, there was tension on every page, lots of action and suspense, twists and turns。 I also enjoyed the characters, you can get quite invested in them after 7 books。 Overall, this was one of my favourite Matthew Reilly novels。 。。。more

Wow。 What a finish to the Jack West Jr。 series。I must admit that I struggled a little with The Two Lost Mountains, the penultimate book in the series, but I think that was because I didn't want the series to end and I was starting to run out of Matthew Reilly books to read。So, I threw those fears out and launched into this one, and wasn't disappointed。Reilly is in top form here。 It is a whirlwind, non-stop, thrill ride, picking up directly where the previous book finished, which given the state Wow。 What a finish to the Jack West Jr。 series。I must admit that I struggled a little with The Two Lost Mountains, the penultimate book in the series, but I think that was because I didn't want the series to end and I was starting to run out of Matthew Reilly books to read。So, I threw those fears out and launched into this one, and wasn't disappointed。Reilly is in top form here。 It is a whirlwind, non-stop, thrill ride, picking up directly where the previous book finished, which given the state that our hero, and his entourage, was in, makes for an intriguing read。As with the previous entries, Reilly finds some of the greatest myths and legends from history and reinterprets them, using man's own history against him and recasting it all as a single bound narrative that has taken thousands of years to tell。Also, given this is the last book in the series, you have to expect that some of the ancillary characters may find their fates, and let me just say, everyone finds their ending (good or bad)。As a writer, I freely admit that some of the sentence constructs can grate from time to time, but this is a Reilly book, it's not Shakespeare, it's pure unadulterated fun。 Sit back and enjoy the ride。 。。。more

Started reading this series 16 years ago, and now it’s over。 We learned to love the family made from incredibly smart and talented loners and though some were lost along the way, most made it through all the dangerous and twisty events in the seven books and saved the world many times over。 I stayed up extra late reading the last chapters of his last night。

A satisfying ending to the series。 Lots of action and more character development than the others。 The backflashes struck me as a bit random, but I get that Reilly was trying to show what a good guy Jack is。。。but we already knew that! Why else would we follow his adventures through 7 books。

Another action packed adventure。 I was nice that this actually brought the series to a close and gave us an ending to the stories of the characters who had made it to the end。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 A satisfying ending to an excellent series。 You will find in this novel exactly the same nonstop action and mythological speculation that makes his work so enjoyable。One might argue that some of the character arcs seem wrapped up a little inorganically, but if you don't scrutinise that too hard, they are feel-good moments。I still wish he did a bit more research for the 'Order of Omega' monks。 His superficial reading of Paul shows that he is utterly unfamiliar with the Scriptures。 A satisfying ending to an excellent series。 You will find in this novel exactly the same nonstop action and mythological speculation that makes his work so enjoyable。One might argue that some of the character arcs seem wrapped up a little inorganically, but if you don't scrutinise that too hard, they are feel-good moments。I still wish he did a bit more research for the 'Order of Omega' monks。 His superficial reading of Paul shows that he is utterly unfamiliar with the Scriptures。 。。。more

Following straight on from the events in The Two Lost Mountains, this is the epic conclusion to the Jack West Jr series。Without giving too much away, this starts in the middle of the action and never lets up。 It has the usual cast of Jack's friends and family (spread across multiple countries), a ton of enemies coming at them, and seemingly impossible odds, all with a countdown to the end of world event which the previous books have been leading towards。There were lots of tense moments, and quit Following straight on from the events in The Two Lost Mountains, this is the epic conclusion to the Jack West Jr series。Without giving too much away, this starts in the middle of the action and never lets up。 It has the usual cast of Jack's friends and family (spread across multiple countries), a ton of enemies coming at them, and seemingly impossible odds, all with a countdown to the end of world event which the previous books have been leading towards。There were lots of tense moments, and quite a few "oh no!" ones as well。 All done in Matthew Reilly's usual style。I've really enjoyed this whole series, and this book is a fitting end to it。 。。。more

I've really enjoyed the entire Jack West Jr series, but for this one, I didn't enjoy it as much as others。I'm spoiler cutting a couple of things as I don't want to hide the entire review。 (view spoiler)[The books in the series have always been a little over the top in terms of reality, but so many people came back from the dead in this book。 Someone died, and five minutes later there they were again。 Not once, not twice, not even three times it happened, I actually lost count how many times some I've really enjoyed the entire Jack West Jr series, but for this one, I didn't enjoy it as much as others。I'm spoiler cutting a couple of things as I don't want to hide the entire review。 (view spoiler)[The books in the series have always been a little over the top in terms of reality, but so many people came back from the dead in this book。 Someone died, and five minutes later there they were again。 Not once, not twice, not even three times it happened, I actually lost count how many times someone was thought to be dead and then Surprise! Not actually dead。 By the end it was no longer a surprise but kind of expected。 Also, the side plot with the bells was super weird。 Jack showed in the end that you can control people without them being put to sleep, so what was the point of sphinx doing that? Like for real, why did he need to put people to sleep? He'd have gotten the power regardless。 It would have even been better power without putting people to sleep because then he could control people without them knowing。 Which Jack ended up doing in the end。 (I also find that odd, that Jack would actually use the powers in any way, aside from that moment at the end with his dog。 (hide spoiler)]I also felt like there were too many characters too spread out, and too much (but not much really) going on in the different places。 It started to feel long。 Which is an odd feeling for what is normally a fast paced action story。 Otherwise the book was standard fare for a Matthew Reilly novel and on the surface level I did enjoy it。 But it definitely wasn't one of his better books。 And I say that as a huge fan who has read everything he has written。 But hopefully this isn't actually the end of the series and one day we'll be surprised with a new and better book for the series。 :) 。。。more
